Recipe Essentials
Maple Ice cream base :
- 1½ cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup condensed milk
- pinch sea or kosher salt
- 2½ cups heavy cream
- ½ tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp Maple extract
Mix In Garnishes :
- 2 Large Apples , diced into small chunks
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Salted Butter
- Graham Cracker, crumbled
Maple Caramel :
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
Directions
- In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed or whisk to combine the milk, maple syrup, condensed milk and salt until combined. Stir in the heavy cream, maple and vanilla extract. Cover and refrigerate a minimum of at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Whisk mixture together again and pour the mixture into the mixing bowl of the icecream machine. Churn according to machine instructions. Mine took around 40 minutes. The icecream is soft but firm texture at this moment
- Mix in the crumbled cracker and caramelized apple chunks in the last two minutes of the churn cycle for the toppings to be mixed in.
- Transfer half of the mixture into an icecream container, add swirls of the maple caramel before adding the remaining icecream on top.
- Add a cling wrap to the surface of the icecream to avoid formation of ice crystals. Close the container and freeze the icecream for 4-6 hours or overnight.
- Let it sit in room temp for 5 minutes before scooping out to serve. Drizzle some caramel on top and devour !
Flavorful Footnotes
- Though you can use hand mixer – ice bowl technique to churn the ice cream , I highly suggested to invest in a ice cream maker. Trust me you won’t regret ! It doesn’t have to be fancy, you can go for a basic budget one.
- You can substitute sugar with condensed milk but it does make it creamier.
- I personally love this icecream with a waffle cone or waffle bowl. Do try with it.
- Feel free to add some cinnamon to the base mixture and caramelized apple to turn it into an apple pie icecream.
